Ron's McCombe's Garden Workshop

TheTamshee: was privilaged to spent the afternoon in the company of wildlife photographer Ron McCombe; winner of the Scottish Photographer of the year 2010, with his colourful photo of this Waxwing. Congratulations, once again on this great achievement. Ron's garden workshop session was of great benefit, allowing me to learn camera features and practise techniques while capturing great shots of the great spotted woodpecker, nuthatch and many other common garden birds.

The Three Brethern

TheTamshee: set off up the Corby Linn en-route to the Three Brethern Cairns which were built in the 1500s by the lairds of Yair, Selkirk and Philiphaugh to mark the boundary of their land. The rewards are fantastic panoramic views across Minch Moor to the South & the distant Eildon Hills to the East. In more recent years the view to the north is dominated by the wind turbines at Longpark Farm

Neidpath Castle

TheTamshee: strolled the banks of the river tweed to shoot Neidpath Castle as the sun fades in the west. Nay signs O the ghostly "Maid Of Neidpath" to be seen

Sky & Buzzard

TheTamshee: experiments with layers in Serif PhotoPlusx4

Oystercatcher

TheTamshee: stumbles apon the elegant Oystercatcher as I cruise the Yarrow Valley en-route to the Grey Mare's Tail.

Buzzard @ Greenhill

TheTamshee: spent some time trekking the countryside around Greenhill farm to snap the majestic Buzzards patrolling the skies. The Roe Deer made a late afternoon appearance, but rather shy, don't like stalking photographers!!

Red Squirrel

TheTamshee: captures the twinkle in this squirrels eye as it prepares for a nutty feast.

NJR @ East Port

TheTamshee: gets involved in lifeboat sea trials @ East Port outer harbour

The Tawny Roost

TheTamshee: checks out the Tawny Owl Roost on the edge of the woodland below the Eildon Hills. All quite after some heavy snow fall but good signs of scat.
