Sweetheart Abbey

TheTamshee: cruised the scenic solway coast, calling in at the RSPB Mersehead Reserve 15 miles from Dumfries off the A710 at Sout; the reserve contains lowland wet grassland, saltmarsh, sand dunes and mud flats but did not capture the imagination of the 8 year old. So we continuing along the road to stumble upon the wonderous ruins of Sweetheart Abbey founded by Lady Devorgilla in 1275. Despite the intermittant rain showers this was more interesting for the Pol; especially getting up close to the nosey coo's paying particular attention to the many tourist.

Art @ Castle Douglas

TheTamshee & Pol-miester checked out the fine art of talented Sherry Campion "from the river to the sea" at Castle Douglas Art Gallery. The "Woodland View" with hand crafted frame by Andy Fletcher was the pick of the gallery.
