Had some time to spare so decided to visit Norwich Castle originally a timber Motte & Baily fortification but later (1067)William The Conqueror ordered the construction because he wished to have a fortified place in the important city of Norwich. The use of the castle as a gaol ended in 1887 when the city purchased it and the conversion to a museum was undertaken by Edward Boardman.
