Man "U" versus Arsenal

TheTamshee says: the red devils pass there first big test of the new season with a Rooney penalty and a Abou Diaby own goal. Magic Giggs,y takes a free kick from the right side and incredibly the Arsenal man nods the ball into his own net. United 1-0 down at half time to a Arshavin strike, turned things around in the second half with a all out attacking game. Final score 2-1 to Sir Alex's never say die battlers. Esbjerg Water Tower

The Old Water Tower was built 1896-1897 on a Bronze Age burial mound above the newly constructed harbour. Since the tower is built upon at the height of the city, facing the sea, it soon became the landmark of Esbjerg. TheTamshee says: the troops on board the NBW could see the water tower in the near distance but due to shore leave restrictions we were only aloud to stroll the harbour area.

Mither Tap @ Bennachie

TheTamshee clan: set out today to get to the top of Mither Tap. This circular walk climbs through mostly pine woodland, and then onto the open hill top. The path circles the Mither Tap summit around one of the two pictish walls and then gradually descends to Heather Brig before returning to The Bennachie Centre. This was a good challenge for the kids, en-route we observed common buzzards flying overhead, lots of not so yummy mushrooms. Some meat / insect eating plants like the Sundew and Butterwort
and a red squirrel ( Scuirus Vulgaris ) with the longest white tail i have ever seen. The fur colour can range from bright ginger through to red and dark brown or tinged with grey in winter. There larger ear tufts in mid winter disappear by summer. The bleached white tail by late summer is only evident in some individuals. Adults can weigh up to 350g

Highland Games

TheTamshee clan: spent the penultimate day of there scottish caravaning tour at the Strathallan Highland Games just North of Stirling. The games are tradititionally held on the first sunday in August in the town of Bridge Of Allan. First founded in 1852 by Major Henderson, the games attract hundreds of athletes, pipe bands, and highland dancers. The kids were well impressed with the men wrestling in their kilts

while the tamshee gave some vocal support for Selkirk runner Alister Lawrie, competing in the 3000 metres.

Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre
